Pest Control Specialists in Glenwood
Glenwood is a 1990s estate suburb, and that shapes the pest problems we get called out for here. Almost every home is slab-on-ground, brick-veneer built between roughly 1992 and 2002. There is no subfloor to inspect, which removes one termite pathway entirely. What it does not remove is risk. Slab homes get termites through a different route: the slab edge, expansion joints, service penetrations and, increasingly, through garden beds and retaining walls that have been built up against the brickwork over thirty years of landscaping.
We are based in Kings Langley, a short drive away, and we treat Glenwood homes regularly.

Glenwood’s mostly slab-on-ground brick-veneer homes create a very specific pest control challenge. With no subfloor access, inspections need to focus closely on slab edges, service penetrations, moisture points, and landscaping that may hide termite entry.
A concrete slab is not a termite barrier. Termites find the perimeter gap where the slab meets the brick course, or they follow a plumbing penetration up through the slab itself. On a slab home, the entry point is almost always within a metre of the external wall, which is where our inspection focuses.
This is the single most common issue in Glenwood. Homes that were built with a clear 75mm of exposed slab edge now have garden beds, pavers, decking or a raised retaining wall sitting flush against the wall. That covers the one area where termite entry is visible. If we recommend cutting back a garden bed, this is why.
A home treated during construction in the mid 1990s has a barrier that reached the end of its effective life a long time ago. Many Glenwood owners assume the builder's treatment is still working. It is not.
Split system drainage discharging next to the slab edge creates a permanently damp patch. Termites need moisture, and we find activity around condensate outlets often enough that we check them on every job.
Full inspection to AS 3660 and AS 4349.3 covering the slab perimeter, roof void, interior, garage and garden. On slab homes, we pay particular attention to the perimeter, weep holes, service penetrations, and any landscaping in contact with the wall. Thermal imaging and moisture meters where a visual check is not conclusive. Written report with findings and recommendations.
Slab homes usually call for a chemical perimeter barrier, applied as a trench and treated backfill around the external wall, or a baiting and monitoring system where trenching is impractical because of paving or landscaping. We will tell you which suits your property and why before we start.
Modern brick veneer is well sealed at ground level, so rodents in Glenwood usually come in higher up: through roof tiles, eaves gaps, or along the cable and pipe runs into the roof void. We find the entry, treat the population, and seal the access.
Rats and mice get into older homes through gaps that newer builds don't have: worn weatherboards, unsealed eaves, gaps around service penetrations. We locate entry points, treat the active population, and seal the access rather than leaving you on a permanent baiting cycle.
Glenwood has high solar uptake and a lot of pigeons and mynas. Birds nest in the gap between panel and tile, block airflow, drop debris into gutters, and bring bird mites into the roof space. We fit mesh barriers around the panel array that stop access without affecting panel output.
Annual and quarterly packages include scheduled treatment, a termite inspection, and follow-up between visits.

We are based in Kings Langley, just a short drive from Glenwood, and regularly service homes throughout the area. That local knowledge helps us understand the common construction styles, landscaping issues, and pest patterns found across Glenwood streets.
02
Glenwood homes need careful inspection around slab edges, weep holes, service penetrations, garage joins, and areas where landscaping has been built up against the wall. Our team knows where pest activity is most likely to appear and what signs to look for.
03
We do not rely on generic spraying. Every treatment is based on the pest type, property layout, entry points, and level of activity, so we can apply the right solution for the actual problem.
04
Our treatments are selected and applied with care around families, pets, and everyday household areas. We also explain any preparation or re-entry advice clearly before treatment begins.
05
If we find an issue, we explain what is happening and what your options are. Whether you need a one-off service, termite inspection, rodent treatment, or ongoing protection, our goal is to help keep your Glenwood home protected long term.
We start by asking about your property, the pests you have noticed, and any specific concerns, such as termite risk, rodent noise, ant trails, or solar panel bird activity. This helps us recommend the right service and provide clear pricing before we arrive.
Our technician checks the key pest risk areas around your Glenwood home, including the slab perimeter, weep holes, roof void, garage, garden beds, retaining walls, service penetrations and areas where moisture may be attracting pests.
We identify the pest species, activity level, and likely entry points. This step is important because termite treatment, ant control, rodent control, and bird proofing all require different methods.
We apply the most suitable treatment for the issue, whether that is a termite barrier, baiting and monitoring system, general pest treatment, rodent control program, or solar panel bird proofing.
After treatment, we explain what was done and provide practical recommendations to reduce future pest activity. This may include clearing the slab edge, fixing moisture issues, sealing gaps or scheduling ongoing protection.

Much of Glenwood remained rural land until the early 1990s, when residential subdivision and construction began moving quickly. The suburb was formally recognised in 1996, making it considerably newer than many established parts of Blacktown.
Rather than growing gradually around an older town centre, Glenwood was developed within the Parklea Urban Release Area. Its residential streets, drainage, reserves and community infrastructure were planned as part of the suburb’s broader development.
Glenwood includes numerous neighbourhood parks, sporting reserves and walking paths incorporated throughout its residential areas rather than being limited to the suburb’s outer edges.
With Bella Vista and Norwest nearby and the M7 running along its southern boundary, Glenwood provides convenient access to major employment areas across the Hills district, as well as connections towards Blacktown, Parramatta and the Sydney CBD.

Compared with older neighbouring suburbs, Glenwood has a relatively consistent stock of detached homes constructed during the 1990s and early 2000s. In our experience, similar building methods and property layouts can result in recurring pest entry points and treatment requirements from one street to another.
Along with pest control in Glenwood, Forensic Pest Management Services also services nearby suburbs across Blacktown, the Hills District, and North-West Sydney.

Common Questions
Yes. A slab is not a termite barrier. Termites enter at the slab edge, through expansion joints or alongside plumbing penetrations. Slab homes get termites regularly; the entry route is just different from that of a home with a subfloor.
Almost certainly not. Chemical barriers have a finite life, and a home built in the 1990s is well past it. Original treatment records are also often lost by the second or third owner.
Because it is covering the slab edge, which is where termite entry is visible. Soil, mulch, or pavers against the brickwork give termites a concealed path up into the frame and remove your ability to spot it early.
Yes, and it is one of our most requested jobs in this area. The mesh sits around the array perimeter and does not touch the panels or affect output.
